People having problems:
1: Install the apk
2: Don't copy anything to the SDcard just yet. Instead run the game with your Wifi or 3G enabled.
3: After you press "Start", the game will connect to the internet and download the "shareware" version of Quake. This will also download all necessary GLQuake files and config files. Some text showing the download progress will appear in the top left corner while it downloads. It is a pretty small download by today's standards.
4: When it completes, the game should now run the "shareware" version, which only contains the first of four chapters.
5: Now to make the game full version you will need the PAK0.PAK and PAK1.PAK files from the "Demo data" link in the original post above. Copy these to /sdcard/quake/id1. (The PAK0.PAK from the shareware version is already in this location, overwrite it.) All four chapters should now be available to play.
Steps 2 & 3 is where I believe problems can arise. Putting the full version PAK files on the SD, before running the game first time, seems to prevent it from downloading the GLQuake and config files, which just causes the game to hang on a black screen after pressing "Start".
Works really good BUT
ReplyDeleteDoesn't support Xperia play
I managed to assign most keys to the normal buttons but it's still hard to control this way and when I moved the app to the sd the onscreen buttons were missing.
Other than that it's amazing
