To launch SPB Shell 3D press the Home button once installation is completed.

Tablets are not supported

Not recommended for Motorola Droid (Original) and Motorola Milestone (3D graphic controller is too slow)

Working Method 1:
Fire up any Terminal app (or use adb shell), and after installing (but not opening) the app:
su
pm disable com.spb.shell3d/com.softspb.shell.service.LicenseService
To re-enable the app if it has disabled itself due to licensing:pm disable com.spb.shell3d/com.softspb.shell.service.LicenseService
su
pm enable com.spb.shell3d/com.softspb.shell.Home

Working Method 2:
you can use Droidwall to block Market not SPB Shell 3D , and this app will work. When you install app and edit it like you want , make backup with TiBackUp, because You can easily restore only data if SPB stop working due to a license error. Thanks to mrgraykillsyou.

If I am not wrong Method 1 also requires root. Due to the command "su".

if you block the market in method two, then how ill will you download apps in the future? do you have to keep unblocking it and then blocking it to download apps?

run it, give it su-rights, tap hack spb
wait for "success"

ReplyDeleteSo you can't open widgets...this is a HOMESCREEN APP, you use to replace your homescreen, and I'm pretty sure your Wildfire can't handle this anyway, not a good enough phone

I really wanted to give this home replacement a test run before buying it but because Google went and pulled the 15 min refund BS decided I would not have enough time to see how it worked. You really need 24 hours to test something like this to see how it effects battery life or if it has memory leaks that cause slowdowns after a certain amount of time running.
ReplyDeleteWhile I think its REALLY overpriced, if they keep up support, add the ability to use it with Honeycomb on tablets, and add a few more features [more widgets, skins, etc] I may consider dropping the $15. With my luck Amazon will have it as the free app of the day, 24 hours after I buy it from the market. Seems to be the story of my life.
Anyway, support your developers. If you like the app consider buying it even if it is a little overpriced.
BTW: I forgot to mention, Method ! worked like a charm. I installed the SPB Shell 3D apk from dropbox on my Droid X, then used a Terminal emulator to type the command lines they have posted above BEFORE launching SPB Shell 3D. Just type what they had listed, and then hit your home button on the phone. Choose SPB Shell 3D and check "Default" if that's what you want to use as your default home UI. If you followed the steps above exactly, you should not have any issues. We'll see how long it lasts and if they added any other phone home time-bombs, but so far so good. I am not too worried because if it runs well over the course of the next few days I will probably buy it anyway to replace Launcher Pro Plus [Paid].
ReplyDeleteI forgot to ask, does anyone know if you uninstall this and reinstall the legit version from the market, will you have any issues because you disabled licensing? I would assume you wouldn't because uninstalling should remove all left over files but wanted to make sure just in case.
