Working Method 1:
Fire up any Terminal app (or use adb shell), and after installing (but not opening) the app:
su
pm disable com.spb.shell3d/com.softspb.shell.service.LicenseService
To re-enable the app if it has disabled itself due to licensing:pm disable com.spb.shell3d/com.softspb.shell.service.LicenseService
su
pm enable com.spb.shell3d/com.softspb.shell.Home
(this requires the phone to be rooted) Thanks to squirrelzpm enable com.spb.shell3d/com.softspb.shell.Home
Working Method 2:
you can use Droidwall to block Market not SPB Shell 3D , and this app will work. When you install app and edit it like you want , make backup with TiBackUp, because You can easily restore only data if SPB stop working due to a license error. Thanks to mrgraykillsyou.

1.0.3 Worked fine w/o issue, then I noticed there was this version, so I uninstalled the old one and installed this one the same way. Before starting, I used the command line just like before. When I started up the app, it gave me a license error and quit out. I used the second command line to re enable it and tried again, same error. I then went into airplane mode and tried a third time. This time it worked w/o the error message but as soon as I enabled data services again and reboot, I got the license error again.
ReplyDeleteIn a last ditch effort I tried re enabling the app [again using the command line] but not entering in the license disable again, rather just starting it up. I figured it might not do another license check after it disabled itself and I manually re enabled it. It started up just fine w/o the license error so I decided to reboot again just to check and see if it would bitch. Phone rebooted, SPB Shell started, and so far it seems to be working fine. I have not gotten another license check error.
I am not sure if they changed something in this version or if by installing and then removing the old version, something got messed up. If you run into a problem with a license error I suggest use the re enable command line, then restart SPB Shell w/o re typing the disable command line a second time. Worked for me; at least so far and its been two reboots and about 15 minutes.
Lastly, for some reason it seems like 1.0.4 runs WORSE on my Droid X then 1.0.3, with more noticeable lag. I am going to play around with it more and see how things go, but to me this seems like a step back rather then a step forward. It's not too bad, but again seems a little slower then the previous version; at least on my phone.
My guess is that as this home replacement matures and they add new features, its going to require a duel core device with more ram. My feeling is that eventually the Droid X and other 1ghz single core, 512mb ram devices will no longer be able to run it effectually, especially if this new version reflects things to come. I am sure it runs beautifully on a Tegra 2 device and look forward to if/when they come out with a tablet version to put on my Xoom (Wi-Fi)
just installed 1.0.4 version, method 1 no longer works
ReplyDeleteUse DroidWall Method
ReplyDeleteworks great! i use droidwall firewall and never give spb shell web access
ReplyDeleteGracias
ReplyDeletemethod 1.. it doesn't work anymore
ReplyDeleteMe too, method 1 doesn't work. I went back to 1.03. I don't like method 2 because I can browse the app market. I think they may have added an additional check to see if the license has been disabled and enabled itself again. Please shares when you discovered a work around it.
ReplyDeleteit doesn't seems to be working with those command lines??
ReplyDeleteGalaxy 3
ReplyDeleteFirst time installation.
Method 1 works fine but not compatible display.

rom ver 2.2 I5800XWJPE
we can use AntTek App manager (root needed; from market)...then freze "samsung home".
ReplyDeletepress home button...check list "set as default"...select "SPB shell 3D". licence check error still occurs...but "home" will not back to samsung home... One thing: Never Reboot your Phone!!!!
I have been unable to use the 1.0.4 on my rooted Droid X. The methods above do not work for me.
ReplyDeleteI did however find a 1.0.3 version to install and it works just fine.
I installed the 1.0.3 version in Airplane mode, did not start app.
ran su
pm disable com.spb.shell3d/com.softspb.shell.service.LicenseService
and then started app.
then turned airplane mode off.
It hasn't given me a license error, nor has it failed. I've rebooted several times, and it is still working for me.
Version 1.0.3 works fine with the method 1. No license problem even after many reboots.
